Is there more to this enclosure? To my eye it looks very small for the number of chimps it houses, and with a lot of space taken up by the moat. Are there intentions to upgrade the chimp accommodation at any stage?
I'd love to get to Wellington at some stage, the chimp group would make for very interesting viewing.
it's been a while since I've been there (and I don't take much notice of apes in zoos) but while it's not a huge enclosure it isn't small either - it keeps going to the left and right of this photo - and the indoor part is reasonably big as well.

It's actually quite a large enclosure, not as large as Taronga's, but certainly large enough for the number of chimps they have. As I recall, my photo covers about 75% of the enclosure, and that back wall is further away than it looks.
