When I visited the Taronga Zoo in 2007 this was my favourite exhibit, and seeing close to 20 chimps interacting with each other in a huge enclosure was a real highlight of my visit. I think that it is still one of the best chimpanzee exhibits that I've ever seen in a zoo, and when exactly was it constructed? I seem to remember that it was August 1980, and for an almost 30 year-old exhibit it is hugely impressive.
