At least superficially, it seems like they've done a pretty good job of capturing the feel of Chinese architecture, and of the quintessential Chinese garden. It does feel a bit overdone though....
I'm not usually one to complain that enclosure aren't naturalistic enough, but I would probably have tried more for a 'Wild China' feel, instead of going full-on Forbidden City.
I’m not usually one to complain about theming unless it’s bad. I feel the Memphis Zoo did a superb job with the visitors’ portion of the exhibit. I just wish the exhibit quality would match the effort put into the architecture. Most exhibits are on the small side, sadly, and I’m curious what Memphis plans to do when their panda loan runs out, as the only US zoo with pandas currently that hasn’t bred them.
