this is a hunting behaviour. Chinese Trumpetfish will tag along with large fish like groupers and parrotfish, and use them as cover to hide from prey. when prey is spotted, the trumpetfish will dart from behind the fish and swallow the prey whole. the "host" fish does not seem bothered by the trumpetfish and will allow it to follow along
