Great photo Hix ( as well as all your other photos in this Gallery ! ).
Do you know more about the population-status of this species - one that I have sofar never seen - and are there on Christmas Island collections ( public and/or privat ) keeping/ breeding this speies ?
The population seems stable and the bird is relatively common throughout the island. Surprisingly, I don't think anyone hunts/eats it, unlike it's relatives in the Pacific.
Nobody keeps it in captivity on the island, there's just so many of them around. Furthermore, construction of an aviary would be exorbitant, and feeding would be labour intensive - there are no substitute diets available on island and freighting them to the island would also be expensive.
