It's immature so I can't be certain: but I suggest Vieja melanura, often called 'synspilum' because it was originally known as Cichlasoma synspilum, which is now a junior synonym.
Actually after seeing the following picture, V fenestrata is another possibility - were they in the same tank? Although of course even if they are in the same tank, that's not proof that they are the same species
