Climbing Orang-utans

I don't usually see them so high up... just looking at them is making me feel dizzy.

I'm in the viewing area in their house, which is why I'm off the ground too.

The enclosure is a little small and basic, but they're planning on replacing it sometime over the next few years.

You are right - it is small and basic so it's good that they do have, and use, these climbing opportunities. Let's hope their new enclosure will be of the same standard as the wonderful gorilla one.

Agreed completely. The only thing I wonder about is where they could find the space for another enclosure as beautifully roomy as the gorilla one. The "main" part of the zoo where the orangs are is much more crowded than the African Plains.

Ah well, I'm sure they'll think of something. There are a few derelict enclosures (the old gorilla one, and the really old polar bear one) just waiting to be demolished.

Personally, I'd be happy to sacrifice the entirety of the Family Farm for a sweet new orang exhibit, but maybe that's just me.

When I was there last year, I did wonder whether the old gorilla enclosure and the orang one could be combined, and revamped of course.

No contest between orangs and Family Farms ;)
