Heliconia Walk comprised a series of 8 small mixed aviaries housing various species of small birds passerines and softbills. In the 1990s it featured several kingfisher species, but the collection naturally died out. The area was named after the park's extensive collection of heliconia plants. In fact, Jurong became Asia’s first heliconia repository in 1989, when it was designated an official heliconia collection centre by the International Heliconia Society. Much of the heliconia collection has been relocated to the Singapore Zoo after Jurong's closure.
