The whole southern edge of the zoo has been closed off ready for redevelopment of the new Giant Panda enclosures and new entrance precinct.

It will cost millions and millions of dollars, but I think that the giant pandas will be worth it! If a baby is born attendance numbers will go through the roof.

Are red pandas, snow leopards or any other himalayan animals being incorporated with the giant pandas?

According to the sign in the photo there will be:

Environmentally responsible climate-controlled Panda facilities;
Four huge immersive exhibits, including Red Pandas and over 5000 trees;
Extensive under-cover viewing area;
A Panda cub nursery with 24hr video monitoring;
Storage facilities for the 40kg of fresh bamboo consumed each day.

... I'm glad they're doing something new for the Red Pandas - I think their current enclosure at Adelaide Zoo leaves a lot to be desired.

That's a bit optimistic but I guess they're better off being safe then sorry.

Maybe Adelaide should breed their golden pheasants, unfortunatly they don't have a female Lady Amherst's pheasant (wouldn't be a bad idea to get another) which would be another species to add.
