Shove a bum, chum! My wife and I spent 6 weeks travelling all over Australia for our honeymoon in 2007, and during that time we spent a week in a rented car in the centre. Uluru (Ayers Rock) and the Olgas were incredible, but another highlight was driving through the middle of nowhere and suddenly screeching to a stop as 7 wild dromedaries nonchalantly crossed the road in front of us. I've read before that Australia has more wild camels than any other country on Earth.
Dromedaries are supposedly extinct in the wild but Australia still has large feral herds, some of which we periodically export back to the Middle East.
