The trees are mainly real, with a few artificial ones (including ropes and vines) tossed in for effect. Like everything else at this top-notch zoo it is all about enclosures becoming naturalistic.
The trees are so tall that they were able to build the enclosure around their trunks, with most of the tree's vegetated branches sticking up above the top of the mesh (otherwise the trees would have been destroyed by the leaf-eating primates). Very clever working with what was already on site.
