Are there still Nubian ibex in here?

Sadly not; a sign at the exhibit this week indicates the last have been euthanased following health problems. Geladas, Rock Hyrax and Blue-winged Geese remain.

Thanks Maguari, can't be too many around now on continental Europe, yet literally 100's in Israel!
BTW, did you see the elephants underwater at all?

No - the scheduled bath times are only Saturday and Sunday and both times we were occupied elsewhere (we were in the zoo Saturday but it was bang in the middle of the Zoohistorica collector's fair).

I've seen Leipzig's elephants underwater before though. :)

I think Magdeburg shall receive Nubian ibex for their new Gelada baboon enclosure as well.

Nubian ibex are kept also in Estonia (Tallinn), France (Obterre) and Sweden (Djurpark).

Such a shame that this beautiful species isn´t shown in more Zoos, they are the prettiest ibex species in my eyes.
