Wilson's bird of paradise at the original Birdland 1974

Diphyllodes respublica. Tropical House near penguins, Birdland, Bourton-on-the -Water, 31st March 1974. Scanned from a Kodachrome slide: apologies for the poor quality of the photo - but I hope it's of interest.

I wish I could have spent more time at Birdland. I used to call in on my way from home to college at the start of term or on my way back again. I could never afford to use too much film because Kodachrome was not cheap - but I'm glad I used it because the colours don't fade if the slides are stored carefully.

I remember seeing a male in one of the aviaries in the old bird house at chester in 1973. My camera at the time was a simple 126 camera and not capable of photographing something such as this unless it was a good close up view. Nevertheless I've seen 3 live bird of paradise species (that I can remember) and 2 more stuffed.
