Nice picture. Never managed to photograph wild dolphins. Have tried in both Western Australia and the Bristol Channel but didn't get more than a tail in the distance.

I have learned to expect a high proportion of failures. I have taken many shots of empty surface, slight splashes and tips of fin or tail. This was the first time I had been on a boat when dolphins were riding the bow wave, which was easier, but it's still hard to predict when and where the dolphin will appear. This species swims very fast, which adds to the problems.

Well you should be able to read about in my blog, but I'm afraid that you won't - at least not for a while. I have too much on at the moment with moving house and various complications. I confess that I haven't updated by blog this year. Friday's boat trip on the Channel was a short escape from boring but necessary tasks.
I like this photo, but I'm not proud of it yet - I need to contemplate it for a while before I make a final judgement.
