Snow Bunting preening

Spot the preen gland. Exe estuary at Powderham, January 30th 2015.
Nice picture :), you've captured the movement very well. It's also a very nice species and I really like its subtle colours.

As the birdbooks say, this species is amazingly unconcerned by the presence of humans. I was sitting 4 metres away as it had a a major preening session. Of course it could have come from central Greenland or northern Norway where no people live.

Lovely photo.:) saw a big winter flock of these on a Norfolk beach once- abut fifty of them- looked like Snowflakes. Have seen them in breeding plumage in the Cairngorms too a long time go, above the ski lifts.
