Saw him/her myself on Sunday. It's curiously visible for a water rail!

So they appear when they certainly feel like it?

Well, even the most shy species break cover occasionally (even if it's very occasionally!). But this particular individual, as gentle lemur says, has taken to foraging under a bird feeder - so is much easier to see than the average water rail. It was out and about almost every time I passed the hide.

Oh, alright. I know they houses all of the flamingos species.

I believe this one, or a near relative, has featured in the Zoochat Gallery previously in a past year?

I often hear them in my local Reedbeds, but rarely see. Cold weather makes them show more though.
