Common kingfisher [Alcedo atthis] - River Weaver, Northwich - 15/01/2016.

This is the first time I've seen a Common kingfisher and those that know me will likely be aware it's a species I've always wanted to see, so to say I'm happy about this spot is an understatement!

Nice shot. This is a very pretty bird and must have been a nice birthday present.

The old world kingfishers are much flashier than the belted kingfisher in North America.
