Wow, that is a really interesting and unusual aviary design. I can imagine the birds lining up above the exit and trapping visitors inside with the threat of defecation!
It's an odd design, and I don't really like it. I'd rather a normal aviary with an elevated viewing platform at the front. Would also give the birds more space.
so do the stairs just go up to a window or something and then you walk back down the same stairs? It seems really pointless, especially as it is just taking up room inside the aviary.
Its certainly ugly and doesn't give visitors a better view really, but I think it might be quite enriching for the birds. The stairs don't take up too much room in the large aviary, and inquisitive cockatoos could have a lot of fun with the visitors. And using it as a climbing frame as well, given the rest of the aviary seems quite barren.
It looks very odd as there doesn't appear to be any or very few perches other than the wire front of the cage or the staircase.
I'd imagine the few upright "sticks" they have won't last long in there either.
