I have never seen coatis and raccoons mixed

Yeah I agree , I cant think of anywhere that has off the top of my head? It seems to work well here as they do have a decent sized enclosure to avoid each other if they want. Though they appeared to be getting along just fine. One Raccoon had a stump of a tail which is unusual but equally most of the meerkats have stumps for tails!!

Having not been for several years, can I ask what part of the park this is in? Also, is the old farmyard area still there as the last time I went, there was talk of shutting it down.

As you go through the entrance it is located on the far right hand side near the railway , there is a range of enclosures , all of a similar design , housing Meerkats , Yellow Mongoose , Black-tailed Prairie Marmots and the Coati/Raccoon enclosure. There is no old farmyard now but the domestics remain in other paddocks and enclosures .

Thanks, I know exactly where you mean. It's a shame that the farm had gone as I was always rather fond of it and particularly a goat there called Claude - he was quite a character!

Seeing as they're both from the Procyonidae family then I guess maybe they could?

As far as know the Coatis are a single sex group and it might be that the Raccoons are a non-breeding pair? One certainly looked fairly old? Generally speaking as long as there are other members of their own species around I would suggest it is far less likely that they would inter-breed. If it were one Coati housed in close proximity to the opposite sex Raccoon things may be different perhaps??
