These are the only King Penguins in England and have been kept in this enclosure for many years where they breed intermittently - I believe a chick was reared last year . This is the second site for Birdland , the original was a smaller site in the centre of the village , it was famous for its penguin collection as well as many very rare bird species .
If it gets too hot we cool them down with blocks of ice, umbrellas for shade and sprinklers. The chicks get fans as well. Haven't had any issues since I have worked with them!
