This enclosure also now houses European pond terrapins, the mice were removed due to several escape attempts. I'm not sure if they're back in there as I've never seen one in there. I know that they were due to be reintroduced but as I said just, they are near invisible anyway. Luckily they also keep harvest mice elsewhere and they are pretty much visible constantly.
I haven't heard anything in regards to bird predation though, I suppose it may be a possible reason for their removal. Personally I've never seen any bird take an interest in the enclosure.
