is it a red crowned crane, the main plumage on the body looks very light to me, are they not usually darker than this, sorry to doubt you Meg, a great series of pics, will you be doing a review of the park?

lol - this is one i wasnt sure about - google informed me it was red crowned - and im pretty sure they have them, but not sure if this is it

While Blackbrook does have Red Crowned Cranes (Grus Japonensis), this is actually a Common or Eurasian Crane (Grus Grus).

Agreed. And very nice it is too! Not too common a species in British zoos.

It was by no means nice - tried to kill me everytime I walked past the fence!! haha! Was worried when some woman was trying to 'pet' it through the wire...
