A swan determined to hide its species by judicious application of mud! It did wash off later so I know the species - anyone fancy a guess?? :D
Not knobby enough for olor and I'm not in the mood to be splitty.
I know not the intricacies of swans. However would not a young olor be amongst the possibilities?

I'm still going with trumpeter, for no reason at all other than it was my first guess ;)

I suppose it could be. But yeah I'm going to stick with Jankowski's

actually, looking at some pictures I'm going to drop trumpeter on account of the white eye-liddy bit visible in this photo and go with either tundra (whistling) or Jankowski's. I do like the name "Jankowski's swan", and the photo on Zootierliste is by a certain Mr. Writhedhornbill which gives it a Zoochat association which makes me think I must agree with Ituri and say:

Jankowski's swan

....and that's how my identification skills work.

Chlidonias, you should learn to trust your instincts! It's a Trumpeter Swan, Cygnus buccinator. :)

so by default we win? The two greatest words in the English language. De Fault! De Fault!
