The stripe/markings at the top of the legs is particularly strange , almost squiggles, this is also seen in the shoulder area too, I `ve never seen any zebra species with this type of markings, the shadow stripes near the rump are more "normal". I wonder what the history of this animal is?
 
I have seen photographs of a mountain-plains zebra hybrid and of a Grevy-plains zebra hybrid.
The Grevy hybrids were 3 or 4 in number, in a Californian zoo. The sire was Grevy, the mother plains. Fairly recent too.
The mountain hybrid was stuffed. It was called a Ward's Zebra(?). The specimen was probably lost during the Blitz. J.
