I think they named this one after Cherie Blair(the ex Pm's wife) Now she's stuck with a rather outdated name... They did it once before with another baby Orangutan- 'Zowie'-very 1970's, they later re-named him 'Homer' (Cherie's father?).

That is correct on both parts - Cherie was named after Tony Blair's wife and I believe, Homer/Zowie is Cherie's father as listed on signage around the Orangutan enclosure.
