I really don't like it when visitors are allowed to feed the animals in a zoo even if it is with specially bough food. The only execption for me is with petting zoos. I just think that the animals becomes less wild and spends a lot of their time begging the visitors for food.

near enough all of the animals found here are pets that were given up, non were wild born. even the leopard used to play frisbee with his original owner. Then he mauled the second owner who tried to do the same thing so then was given up. the ocelot (one nasty bugger of a cat) was from the same place too.
Most of the animals in other zoos are born in captivity as well but that does no chance my point. I was merely trying to make a general statement. It does not matter if they are born in the wild or in captibity. If the animals recieve food from the visitors all day they will not display a lot of natural behaviour

Does this mean that it is legal in The UK to keep cats like leopards as pets, or has these animals been held illegally? (To my great sorrow and disbelief, I know that is it perfectly legal in many US states...).
It's legal to keep them if you get a licence, and plenty of people keep leopards, lions, tigers and even bears as well as any zoo. Don't let it be to your sorrow and disbelief
Oh dear........... I probably shouldn´t pursue this matter, but dare I ask what is required by Mr or Mrs Smith to get a license for keeping a tiger or a bear in the garden?!
Let´s not indeed.... just a final note telling you that "Apply to the council, inspections, money, god knows what else" does NOT sound very reassuring to me.
