Main tropical shark tank at Blue Reef Bristol 19/12/09

The final view before you leave is back int the main tank.

It's not a huge place, and it suffers a little from having to squeeze itself into the old exoskeleton of Wildwalk@Bristol. The result is a fairly typical smaller UK aquarium, dotted with Blue Reef specialities like the Nautilus. Most of it is quite nicely done, but don't expect to spend much more than an hour or so there at most*.

*excluding the IMAX, which I didn't bother with.

Hi Maguari, I've got a 2 night stay in Bristol planned for next month and was debating visiting here but after your mini-review above I was wondering if it's actually worth it?
Any additional advice would be great as well.
Thanks in advance.

To be honest, it wouldn't need more than an hour or so - so unless cash is a bigger issue than time I'd definitely say to visit. There are a few very nice bits - plus it was over three years ago that I visited and it was still all very 'new'.

Thanks for the info, sounds like it may be one to skip. I'm not to keen on UK aquaria (Too many Sea Life visits!) so I will probably hit the zoo twice instead. :)

Sorry to bump an old thread but I did eventually visit (in September) and was pleasantly surprised, there was nothing truly outstanding but it was far cheaper than any Sea Life Centre. The main tank was devoid of any large species (leopard sharks being the biggest inhabitants if memory serves me correctly) but the place itself was pleasant enough and some of the theming and exhibits were very nice. The two large tanks are most definitely the highlights, the one as you enter and the above mentioned tropical exhibit.
