Okay Bashing other people's opinions. I think its fine, you think its not. So whats the problem?
Everyone has the right for their own opinion over things and just because they dont match yours is life.
Do you know me? - "The statement "If Kamal had not of liked, he would of let KateA know." is very typical of a child, or at least somebody who clearly has no idea of what could of happened if that Lion HAD demonstrated its disapproval!" - Because let me say they are plenty of signs a lion is not happy, Believe me i know quite a few individuals! - For example ears pinned back (typical of the cat species), snarling of dissaproval is another aswell as looking slightly uneasy when the keeper is going towards it. Would you like anymore?
Quite alot of the opinions you have brought forward have alot to do with dogs and domestic cats, what about lions? - The very point of this thread. - If you would like to talk about lions with me i would be more than happy to pass on my knowledge of lions and you to pass on yours.

You really dont get it do you. If the Lion had decided to take offence at Kate, he could VERY concievably of got hold of her through that mesh, can you not see that?
Cats dont snarl, they do hiss though, is that what you mean, are you getting confused with Dogs, who can be said to snarl?
My point is I couldnt give a monkeys what keepers or anyone else do behind closed doors, but I do care about the image they portray on a public forum. When I visit Bristol next, I may raise my concerns as I have said previously, I dont think it portrays the Zoo in a good light, when keepers post pictures of themselves posing with supposed wild animals and implying they are "pussy Cats" madness and way off the mark.
No Dawn B lions snarl, And of course i can see that. I was picking up the signs of a lions unhappiness. He could so easily do that like you have said but he hasnt - There's got to be some trust there.
They are far from "pussy cats"! They are individual's who need are help to be here otherwise they will not be here.Lions need to respected and if she hadnt shown repsect to him then she wouldnt of been able to get this close. This Keeper has spent alot of time with Kamal so if she just ignores him and not show any friendliness to him how is the lion going to feel? - They have exactly the same feelings as we do to not get to know an individual we are probably going to look after all their life in my opinion as wrong. As i have said if you want to pass on your knowledge of lions to me feel free and i will pass on mine.
And can i say i accept all you have said so please accept mine, I also think this debate should now end.
They do snarl, I've seen it in several big cats (lions, tigers and leopards).
This is interesting to see what different people think of this. I can see the whole safety aspect thing, but we must remember that people don't complain about people who post pictures of them with a lemur on their shoulder whilst I know people who've had 9 stitches from a lemur bite. Similar thing is what Kate said about the tapir incident.
Funny how this thread has escalated even though KateA is still alive and has all her fingers lol.

Mmmm please show me a Lion snarling. I can show you Cats hissing and showing their teeth, roaring (the ones that do) but cant recall one snarling?
You actually said something that made perfect sense too, "Lions need to be respected" they certainly do, not petted!
I do accept yours and everyone elses opinion, but because we dont agree doesnt mean you are any more "right" than I am. I can agree to disagree by all means.

Dawn B if you know anything about lions you will know that a greeting as head rubbing together. Something i have seen very reguarly amongst lions and lions and humans. If you look closely you can see that Kamal has his head right up at the fence rubbing it where Kate A is. A sign of a welcomed Greeting and Affection. This takes place all the time when i see lions at my local zoo (which i visit about twice monthly and have known the lions since they have been born) - I will send you a picture if you would like.

Show me where KateA described Kamal as a pussycat. She never did and never would on a forum like this because she knows they are anything BUT pussycats. If you got the implication Kamal was a pussycat from the photo, well that's your interpretation - again, deal with it.
And if you plan on going to Bristol to complain simply out of spite (as that's the implication your post makes), then I hope you get the same reception as when you complained about a wolf with a bad jaw.
This whole discussion clearly illustrates why many zoos prohibit their staff from being active members of this site (see the http://www.zoochat.com/2/big-brother-113712/ discussion in General Forums).

Yes my dear Im quite familiar with head rubbing in felines. Thing is this behaviour (if you have studied it) also had other meanings, just like hissing and ear folding and flattening, ill leave it at that I think!

She is promoting the Cat as friendly, but makiing a fuss of it and putting her head against the mesh next to his, you think about that then again, deal with it yourself, cos if you think she was implying he was a "snarling" beast, you are wrong.

Do you, wrong again. I am planning on going to several Zoos in the next few weeks, as I have time off work, I will also say exactly what I please and whatever you say or anyone else wont make a dying bit of difference, get off your high horse and accept that people may disagree with you. The warning I received about certain members on here certainly strikes true!

Then I agree with them totally! For the record YOUR own reply sums it up totally!
Zoos have enough to contend with, with organisations like ZooCheck and PETA spreading their fanatical views and propaganda. They don't need their own staff fanning flames through carelessness.
100% agree with you, just look what happens when some people disagree with keepers taking photos of themselves with Lions whilst implying they are friendly, ridiculous! Thanks for showing me the thread Hix, however whether you are happy or not doesnt hold much interest for me.
