The Gorilla Island looks a lot lusher nowadays as a lot more vegetation has grown up. They had bad luck when setting up this new group on the Island, as two of the Gorillas in this photo- Undi and then Klaus- died (they've also previously lost huge numbers of Gorillas at Bristol in the past). But now finally the current group has stabilised.
Not really. General poor husbandry and diet perhaps. Lack of enrichment. Poor social grouping. Many infants were lost in their early weeks/months, possibly due to poor diet of their mothers perhaps?
Management of their gorillas is completely different nowadays, good social group, excellent diets and care etc.
