Aye-aye

Only one on show now. Twilight World (before the lights went out, but enclosure was still very dark), Bristol, 19th October 2014.
Her Maj :D

The right hand enclosure was completely dark on Sunday.

If you mean whilst the lights were still on, it was the same on Saturday. Both individuals were definitely on show and showing well from 9:30. The left hand individual was active when the lights were on, but I arrived too late to observe this for more than half a minute or take a photo.

OK, that might have happened on Sunday as well. I did not go back into the nocturnal section after 9.30. I suppose there may have been a technical fault with the lighting.

I certainly saw both aye-ayes today as they were mixed and had the run of both enclosures. The lighting in the right hand enclosure was off, even when the other lights were on, which may have misled me on my previous visit.

Agreed. It brings to mind Gerald Durrell's description of an Aye-Aye that so wonderfully began and ended "The Aye-Aye and I".

I think at least one of the aye-aye you saw at Bristol might be a new arrival as I believe Chester now has one of the previous pair ?

Great photo .
