Ornate Lorikeet (Trichoglossus ornatus) at Chester Zoo in 1976. This bird is my favourite Lorikeet and was pretty common in the 1970s and early 1980s. Since it was a colourful bird for which their was a demand, many breeders produced chicks, thus saturating the market. As a result of not being able to dispose of surplus birds, everyone stopped breeding them. I doubt that there are any in the UK at present.
