It wasn't the only snapper, by a long way. But perhaps I got a special frown because I had the longest lens.
It was a wonderful sight because all eight of them were sitting more or less in a line near the moat. Utara moved off quite quickly, but the others gave plenty of opportunities. Emma made a good choice by using her sack as a shawl: but I think Subis made a better one by sitting on hers, even letting Budi have a quick snooze on one corner
You know what these moody celebs are like! When they want attention they want it; when they don't, suddenly they want privacy! She was certainly flaunting tiny baby Indah last year when I was there.
I went to Chester for the 1st time on Monday and was privileged to be the only person in RORA 1st thing (well, with other half & daughter). We were delighted when Emma swung over to the window with Indah and were transfixed by mum & baby for at least 10 mins. Apart from looking so awesome, she casually twisted and tied the cords through the wire mesh to create a hammock-cum-cradle ...... holding the cord in her teeth as necessary ...... so "human" like. Will post up some pics soon (fantastic expressions) though they are a little spoiled by reflections on the glass.
She also came over the 2nd & 3rd time we went in to RORA but there were many more visitors then. From speaking to another lady who was also going ga-ga over the orangs, it seems Emma often "shows off".
I have to admit I actually cried seeing all the Sumatrans so close up, and so many of them .....

Lucky you - we went the day before (Sunday) and it was manic - had to queue to get in the RORA and then to get out - getting near the windows was impossible. They were all outside though enjoying the sunshine - the male Puluh sat nibbling alone then Emma and Subis + babies sat together as if in a confab with Budi rolling around looking cute!! LOL. Have seen Emma in the window in previous visits, like you say they do like to show their young off!! Subis actually came and sat in the window with baby on Sunday - couldn't get near though and the reflections are always terrible for photos. As you say, it's great to see them all together and Puluh is a lovely male, bit shy, the keepers say he tends to keep away from the babies!! - he's my 2nd favourite to Rajang!! Chester is only an hour and a bit away so we visit these Orangs often - will avoid Sundays in School Hols in future though! The lady you spoke to may well be one were were talking to on a previous visit, she lives local and always goes in early before it gets busy. She actually moved to Chester to be near the orangs as she loved them so much - she knew everything about them and lots of other animals (including over 100 names) - I wished I'd asked for her e-mail or something to keep in touch!! I hope to meet her again in the future.

That surely goes above and beyond the call of duty ...... though I also understand why she did it, and would love to live close enough to Chester to be able to visit regularly (instead of 3.5 to 4 hrs drive away). But then I'd feel "guilty" (or at least very disappointed) about not visiting Rajang more often !

I know what you mean - I'm the other way round - visit Chester a lot as just over an hour away but Rajang has to be an overnight stop with the 4 hour journey but we plan to go avery 6 weeks or so to see him and keep track of the other animals there. Shame about Simba the Rhino being put to sleep, but he was a good age I guess. Looks like you've been having a Zoo Week with Chester on Monday and Colchester Thursday!! Wouldn't it be great to live near, mind you if you are near Colchester that would do for me!
