This is just one of three Islands, then there is a densely planted spider monkey enclosure with a typical chain link fence, however the fence is only a few feet high with a hedge to hide it and additional hotwire to keep them contained.
Hey, what's all this? All these poles and associated climbing stuff are new since I last visited (Chester is sadly a long way from me). They are like the poles on the chimp island. Has it encouraged the Liontailed Macaques to use their outdoor island more than they did before? My only comment would be that some horizontal poles joining between the uprights would allow them to travel around the whole exhibit above ground, instead of just being able to climb up each one to nothing at the top..
Have the Mandrill and Sulawsei Macaque islands had similar treatment?
Its still not quiiiiiiite as good as Howlett's Liontailed Macaque (and Javan Langur) enclosure though...
