I like that idea for protecting the living trees! What is it? Thick ropes?
Anyhow, much less intruding to the human eye than other techniques I have seen.
Correct. The ropes have only been added recently (about 18months ago I think) because previously the enclosure used to be home to lechwe but the paddock was given over to the rhinos when the female became pregnant.
I think the ropes also act as a scratching post for the rhinos as well as protection for the tree.
