What a mix ...

Warthog and Banded Mongoose mixed exhibit.

An interesting coexistense has been observed in some part of Africa between the two species: Warthogs allow the mongooses to clamber all over them in search of parasites. Maybe this was the starting-point to set up this mixed exhibit, I dont know. Does anybody know how long this combination has been exist in Chester Zoo?

Anyway, quite a huge sized enclosure for mongooses …

Anyway, quite a huge sized enclosure for mongooses (in this photo you can see only a very small, and not the most attractive part of it) …
 
I think this mix was started in 2006 because I remember the marketing blurb for the Tsavo cafe (which opened that year) was advertising the fact that you could eat your dinner overlooking rhinos, warthogs and mongoose

and yes, I think it is an excellent exhibit. So simple but it is very effective (especially if a rhino happens to be in the paddock behind).
