These cages were very unsatisfactory; stone walls and wire mesh, concrete and gravel underfoot, with small shelters. The Barbary macaque group did quite well in a double sized one, but the other species never really looked at home in them.

Great shot- your talents are evident even back then...

These cages reminded me rather of giant Litter baskets set on their sides. There was something not quite right about them- not enough security for the animals perhaps?
