Bears of the Cloud Forest photos

wesh mounain zoo

Are you trying to tell us there are two spectacled bears at WMZ? or that they have brown bears, in a better enclosure than South lakes!

P.s. Sorry they may not be brown bears but they are not spectacled bears!

And that shows that you clearly haven't been following the thread.
Aimed at cat-man BTW, read the thread before you post a reply, makes everything easier.

No

My comment was referring to the discussion in this thread between Pertinax and Ashley-H (among others) regarding the South Lakes bears. If I've got the distances right, South Lakes is about 2 hours from Chester...

I wouldn't have been talking about Brown Bears for a Spectacled Bear enclosure either...

Jimmy, you're right, took me about 2 hours.

Nothing wrong with the Bear enclosure at Welsh Mountain IMO. At least they dont live in an over-crowded muddy field. And you cant even call me biast, i'll be the first to admit their Leopards, Gibbons, Spider Monkeys and so on are in desperate need of new enclosures.

My personal viewpoint is that this enclosure is exactly what more zoos around the world should build for their animals. Rather than concrete pits for their bears there should be lush, green foliage, plenty of water, ample amounts of shade and even rocky terrain for exploring. The visible barriers are kept at a minimum, visitors have fantastic vantage points, and this exhibit at Chester Zoo is a thousand times better than the South American mixed-species mess at South Lakes with the high electric fence all around an odd assortment of mammals. Is this animal habitat one of the very best at Chester? An excellent zoo and from photos and comments on this site apparently the best in England by a country mile.:)
