Cabot's Tragopan

I know there are hundreds of photographs of the animals at Chester already, however I wanted to share some of my good ones from today and would be grateful for any feedback :).

Nice one! I'm feeling left out as I haven't seen him yet.

Hehe, don't feel too left out, I haven't seen the Duiker yet despite several attempts :). I was keeping an eye out for the tragopan and saw it move along the back of the aviary. I got snapping immediately, but it stayed in view for a while as it worked its way towards the front, pecking at the ground :D.

I still haven't seen this guy either.

Keep on trying mate, it is worth seeing if not only to boast about seeing one of the zoo's most elusive creatures :D. I saw him about 10-15 minutes before the Giant Otter talk on a Sunday, so maybe that could give you an indicator of time?

According to a keeper, he is becomming a little bolder now and hiding away a little less. Also, I think they are looking at bringing in some females at some point so there will be more than just the one.

Does the plain brown feathering on his front denote he's immature, or is that his adult plumage?

I couldn't say I'm afraid, I don't know my birds all that well. I'm sure there is somebody on here that can help though :)

Finally saw this bird last week. We will soon be able to compare him with his cousins. Saw 5 out of the 6 species in the China aviary after about half an hour.
