Ever seen the photo of 'Mickey' at Edinburgh Zoo in 1940/50's in Barbara Harrison's book- 'OrangUtan'? Very similar shot.

I do remember the book and that photo - but it was B&W of course. I took a sequence of photos as he was looking in different directions, I hadn't thought of it before, but perhaps I chose this one subconsciously because of the similarity.

it almost seems a habit of Sumatran males to look over their shoulders like that. I have similar shots of Bristol's 'Adam' doing exactly the same thing.
