Eastern Pygmy Marmoset - 17/09/2010

I believe this may be the first documented ZooChat sighting of the eastern pygmy marmoset (Cebuella pygmaea niveiventris) at Chester (currently holding 2.0).

Given how small they are and the large outdoor area, they're incredibly difficult to see.
Both those species have been really slow to embrace the outdoor area but this is a good sign and it'll be a great exhibit for "proper" zoo visitors because spotting one is particularly rewarding.

Do we know how many of the black-tailed marmosets Chester holds? ISIS doesn't list them as having any.

I have seen 2 black-taileds as well. I assumed that they have been locked into the house until recently because some (or all) of them have been in quarantine.

The current issue of Z says there are two black-tailed marmosets. Chester's ISIS records have not been updated for about 3 months it seems.

I hadn't noticed that, but you're right, none of the animal movements within the last few months are on ISIS.

Alan's theory on quarantine might be correct, but one very rarely sees the Geoffrey's outside either and they've been in the collection for quite a while now.
