Victoria crowned pigeon chick

These birds are free-flying in the Tropical House. Their nest is on the roof of one of the hornbill aviaries, so the chick is easy to see from the gallery above. Tropical House, Chester, 11th July 2010

I'm pleased to report that as of Tuesday, the parents and chick have left the precariously positioned nest and can now be seen feeding amongst the undergrowth on the floor of the Tropical Realm. The chick is now about twice the size it was in this photograph.

Missed this first time round somehow but that's a great shot.
