This is just part of it and not all the viewing is from above, the majority is at a lover level so that you get good view but are not really looking down on them.
The enclosure is a decent size and there is plenty of space where the public would be a good distance away and at a very low angle. The cheetahs seem quite relaxed in this photo almost directly under the walkway. The cats do have other raised places to sit if they wish to. Surely in the wild animals such as monkeys/baboons would occasionally be looking down from trees etc. Is a group of people much different?
Also walkways like this definately make the exhibit more interesting/exciting for the public. Its a more interesting view than walking along the fence boundary.
This is just the corner. This is exhibit is MUCH NICER than it looks in this photo. The center (the area in front of this photo) has a small hill with very large plants. Not only does the walkway go lower as it descends to the left, it ends at ground level with a covered area with glass for eye-level viewing. Just a fantastic exhibit and the fact that they have northern cheetahs instead of the more common southern cheetahs makes it even better.
