Thank you all. It's been a while since I looked at this one, but I remember taking it while the light was beautiful - that beak looks as if it was carved and polished by a master stone mason.
Something of a Chester icon, given that they had the first UK breeding back in the 1940s; lovely portrait, perfect lighting, make a nice guide book cover.
