As predicted, the male Temminck's tragopan (Tragopan temminckii) has started to display to his female.
Typically, he's doing it in a really awkward spot and facing into the enclosure - hence another poor photo - but it's still an impressive sight to see his tail and wings fanned, his bib fully extended and his horns raised.

Never seen them display at Chester but we got a brief view of a similar performance from a Temminck's at Cotswold at the start of the month. Stunning display.
I didn't think this photo was up to much and it should be possible to get a better shot with some patience. I'd have staked the bird out too, but Zoogiraffe wanted to see something else in the zoo. What a pest.
