African painted dogs tucking in to some leftovers from their meal the previous day.

Shooting through glass into low sun isn't easy, so I'm waiting for Gentle Lemur's photos to show us how it's done!

I tried yesterday, without getting anything nearly as good as this. I think a slightly overcast day may be better for shooting at this enclosure.

That may well be the case. Early morning the sun is behind you, but then reflections are an issue and it also illuminates the background. Late afternoon the viewing is great, but at this time of year that means shooting straight into the sun. Leaves on the trees will help.

The creaky bridge is the best spot, although trying not to get an impression of looking down on the animals when they're in the water is also likely to be a challenge.

The Sun was causing lots of reflections on the glass yesterday for me too. Does anybody know what it is the Dogs are fed?

They're fed whole carcasses, minus the head (I've cropped the feet out of this image). It's important for the social interaction within the group.

I overheard a woman telling her family that they were playing with "a piece of carpet", a black and white carpet.

Is it Deer or goat?

ah yeah I saw that bit of 'carpet' too yesterday - in fact one of the dogs was having fun picking it up and worrying it - home wrecker :O)

All I saw yesterday were some traces of carpet fibres and some very inactive dogs. I feel a little cheated that everybody has brilliant photos of them and as soon as I turn up they're all taking a nap in the most awkward place possible

I'm hoping they're a touch more active on Tim's talk :D

Neither, besides, how many black and white deer species can you think of that are likely to be used as carnivore feed? ;)

Was just trying to think what it could be as was curious as to what it was they where eating.
