That may well be the case. Early morning the sun is behind you, but then reflections are an issue and it also illuminates the background. Late afternoon the viewing is great, but at this time of year that means shooting straight into the sun. Leaves on the trees will help.
The creaky bridge is the best spot, although trying not to get an impression of looking down on the animals when they're in the water is also likely to be a challenge.
All I saw yesterday were some traces of carpet fibres and some very inactive dogs. I feel a little cheated that everybody has brilliant photos of them and as soon as I turn up they're all taking a nap in the most awkward place possible
