Realm of the Red Ape Model

The model showing the plans for Realm of the Red Ape, which was on display in the old Orang house until it closed.

note: I've only just realised, the new flamingo house is shown on the model as well on the left hand side.

Pretty much so, yes.

The solid-roofed building is the old Orangutan/Ape House that is currently the indoor offshow house for the Bornean Orangutans. The mesh-covered and indoor enclosures comprise the new building, and the two open outdoor enclosures(one moated) are also as they are in this mock-up.

More or less!
The curving ramp at the front left is the exit - the entrance ramp is on the other side. The ramp on the extreme left was the entrance to the old ape house, which is now off-show and this ramp is blocked off. This house is now the indoor quarters for the Borneans. The male (Tuan) can be given access to the outdoor island enclosure behind the old ramp - although for various reasons they cannot allow this often. There is quite a tall timber screen around this enclosure, so it cannot be viewed easily (although Tuan can be seen if he is on the climbing frame). The females and infants have access to one or both of the wire-roofed enclosures in the centre of the model.
The Sumatrans (and gibbons) have access to three indoor enclosures in the new house and both of the new outdoor enclosures (right and front of the model). The moat of the front enclosure is rather different from the model as there is a fairly narrow section of deep water on the ape's side, with a wide sloping cascade of shallow water in front. Small-clawed otters are also now kept in this enclosure, although I have never seen them in the cascade section.
The area between the ramps was originally just lawn and shrubs, but there is now a curved paddock for babirusa and more small-clawed otters along the wall of the house.
