Madagascar Red Fody Fledgling - 12/10/2011

Fledgling madagascar red fody (Foudia madagascariensis), one of four in free-flight in the Tropical Realm.

They're tiny birds, nervous and at this stage difficult to spot let alone photograph.

I would have assumed this was a sparrow
They're quite a bit smaller than sparrows, but it'd be a logical assumption if one only caught a fleeting glimpse.

I did double-check with one of the Tropical Realm bird team to ensure this was a fledgling not the adult female (who is ringed) and that it was actually a fody and not a case of wishful thinking!
