Serval

Serval (Leptailurus serval) - Serval enclosure - Chester Zoological Gardens - 10/12/2011.
no, Serval have been at Chester for a while - there were 2 males until earlier this year when they moved one out leaving a single male and the hope of a female to join him in the future!

The latest 'batch' of Servals arrived in 2009; before that they had not been kept at Chester for a few years.

Where are they kept in the zoo? I remember when I used to visit regularly in the early noughties they were near where the giant anteaters and cassowaries are now.

They haven't ventured too far from then, they're in the old cheetah enclosure just before it opposite the bush dogs [to the right as you come up from by the lions - next to the jetty for the water bus].

I think that is where they were when I used to visit. The male who left Chester is now at Trotters in Cumbria and is now a proud father to 2 baby servals!
