This is the path from the Tsavo building (out of shot on the left) to the meerkats. There is a underpass for the black rhinos beneath this path, so that both the paddocks can hold the rhinos which use the house (which has 2 on-show indoor areas).
At the end of the path there are bronze statuettes of meerkats and the path turns right to the meerkat enclosure, which was modified from the shelters and works yard for the ungulates in the right hand paddock (eland at one stage) before the Tsavo area was redeveloped.
The sculpture of the meerkats by Annette Yarrow was added after this photograph was taken. It was vandalised recently, and one of the bronze meerkats stolen.
